A family-friendly Thailand journey from Bangkok to Kanchanaburi, Khao Sok and Koh Samui, combining gentle cycling, waterfalls, wildlife hikes, kayaking and island-hopping with character stays and slee

For this family trip in Thailand, we have selected hotels and resorts for their location and character. Most have swimming pools and there is the opportunity to swim at the beach near our hotel in Koh Samui.
Accommodation on this trip includes:
10 nights in handpicked hotels and resorts
Two nights on a sleeper train
The accommodations typically used are found on the day-to-day itinerary. However, below are a few notable places we stay on this trip.
Bangkok: New Siam Palace Ville Hotel (nights 1-2 and 12)
In the Old Town of Bangkok, this calm, family-friendly property is within walking distance of several attractions including Khao San Road and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha. The outdoor pool provides the perfect place to chill before or after your explorations.
Kanchanaburi: River Kwai Bridge Resort (nights 3-4)
With riverside spots to eat and drink plus a tranquil swimming pool, this peaceful resort is the ideal place to relax. Wander through the gardens or simply chill post-exploration in your air-conditioned room.
Koh Samui: Matcha Samui Resort (nights 8-10)
Ideally located in Chaweng Beach, this family-friendly resort is the ideal spot to unwind during our three-night stay on Koh Samui. It has a swimming pool and is in the heart of Chaweng Beach with its long stretch of white sand.
Overnight sleeper train
We spend two nights on the sleeper train, the best way to travel long distances (north to south round-trip) with the local people. We stay in shared air-conditioned carriages; each sleeping berth has a privacy curtain, while sleeping sheets, a blanket and pillow are provided. On the sleeper train, you may be sharing a compartment with members of the public depending on how the seats are allocated. Snacks are often offered on board, including in the dining car (at an additional cost).
Worth knowing
There may be instances when you want a single room. Perhaps a grandparent needs one, or parents of a family of three or five want to ensure they get a bit of space! Single supplements are available upon request (see price below). Please advise at the time of booking. A single room is available on hotel nights only.
While we do our best to ensure families are roomed close together (in some cases, we can arrange adjoining rooms), we can’t guarantee this. Most family trips occur during peak season and we sometimes have little control over where you are put.
